What Do We Do
Shanghai Outing Club allows all nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts living or visiting China, the opportunity to get out and explore the “off-beaten-path” places in various parts of China. Participants can get in touch with nature and local cultures, as well as meeting new people with the same interests in a relaxed atmosphere. It is always a joy to see people join as strangers and depart with new friendships formed!
Our outings are mostly held on the weekends and over the national holidays in China. The destinations we select, are always unique and not frequented by other tour groups in China. If you want to visit anywhere in China in your own time, we can also customize your trip to suit your needs.

Who We Are
Jenny Zhou - After having lived and traveled extensively in China for nearly 10 years, Jenny founded the Shanghai Weekend Oasis Club (former name of Shanghai Outing Club) in the end of 2006, with an aim to help nature lovers in the English speaking community living in China to get out to explore more of the hidden beautiful nature in China. Being a Chinese Canadian, it is not difficult for her to understand the need that most expats have for being in nature after moving to China for some time, where most cities resemble concrete jungles. Although most big cities are quite modernized, China is still not an easy place to get around or explore if you are not a Chinese speaker, or a backpacker on an extended holiday. Therefore the club was found aiming to provide organized small group travel for international residents or visitors to discover the hidden places in China with beautiful nature and authentic culture. The club was renamed as Shanghai Outing Club in 2009. In 2012, Jenny moved from Shanghai to Lijiang, in Yunnan, but continues to provide amazing travel experiences for its members.
