Longji Rice Terrace Trek and Yangshuo
The Long Ji Rice Terraces of Guangxi province is certainly one of the most awe-inspiring sights one will see in China. The carving of the terraces was said to have begun in the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368), and ended in 1700. Villages consisted of the Zhuang and Yao spread across the 66 square kilometer of terraces where the highest point measures 1100 meters. Every spring at around the time of the Dragon Boat Festival, a touch of magic is added to the site when the terraces become flooded by water for irrigation, creating a mirror like effect with a dreamlike quality. We shall do a 6 hour hike on the first day that takes us from Dazhai to Ping’an village. This hike takes you through several hamlets tucked in the terraces occupied by the Yao and Zhuang nationalities who are the main occupants of these lands. After a night at a guesthouse on the terraces, we’ll be transferred to Yangshuo, where we’ll do a boat cruise on the Li River from Xingping to Yu Cun, then followed by some leisure time exploring the surrounding countryside in Yangshuo before returning to Shanghai.

D1 18:00 – 19:00 check in at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport T2, China Southern
19:35 – 22:00 Flight to Guilin; picked up by vehicle and transfer to the hotel in Guilin for check-in
Free evening in Guilin, stay overnight at Guilin Eva Spring Hotel or similar
D2 7:00 breakfast and check out; 7:45 drive for Da Zhai Village of Long Ji (+/- 3 hours)
11:00 arrive at Da zhai village, have lunch and then trek from Da Zhai to Ping An village(+/- 6 hours)
Arrive at the village guesthouse, check-in and dinner
D3 Check out after breakfast. check-out, spend free time at the Ping’an Terraces
10:00 descend from Ping An village to the parking lot (+/- 45 min)
Drive to Fuli (2 hr. 40 min, organized transfer); Lunch in Yangshuo (included)
Li River boat cruise from Fuli to Yangshuo (included). Check into Hotel.
Free time in Yangshuo; Dinner (not included)
Evening Activity suggestions: “Impression Sister Liu” musical light show on the Li River (should be booked 1 day ahead)/Watch night cormorant

Free time in Yangshuo; Activity Options: 1. Rent a bike or motor scooter to the Moon Hill; and hike up to the Moon Hill
2. Bamboo raft down the Yulong River (early morning for cooler temperature, and better lighting)
3. Visit the Buddha Water cave (be prepared with bathing suit and a towel for a mud bath)
4. Rock climbing in the country side
5. Kayak down the Li River
