Zhoushan Island Getaway

We take the bus from Shanghai Huangpu Bus Station to Zhoushan in the early morning. The 5 hour bus trip takes us through Ningbo, where we’ll cross the 36 KM Hangzhou Bay Bridge, which boasts to be the longest sea bridge of its kind in the world. The town of Zhujiajian is the 5th largest island of the Zhoushan archipelago. Zhujiajian boasts beautiful fine sandy beaches all around, and mountains which is perfect for those who want to spend sometime to relax. It is where the Zhoushan airport is located, and only 5 minutes by speedboat from the sacred Buddhist retreat - Putuo Shan. It is also the venue for the annual International Sand Sculpture Festival welcoming artists from all over the world every year. At Putuoshan, you’ll enter into a world of Buddhist culture in a unique island setting that’s not found anywhere else in the country. The
island is only 12.5 sq Kilometers in total land size, and it is a peaceful place full of active monasteries where one can truly appreciate the Buddhist culture.
